Fairwaywood - some of Callaway 3. Hybrid - Cobra baffler 4. Game Improvment Irons - Titleist 5. Super Game Improvement Irons - Callaway 6. Player's Irons - Titleist 7. The use of multiple materials is impressive and achieves a club that is easy to launch the ball. Those who believe the Cobra S9 does not offer enough help should take a hard look at this club. NOTA degree pitching wedge is pushing the boundaries of decency.

Tungsten weights are located low and back in the hollow-back irons to provide consistency. The short irons are made of carbon steel for a soft feel. These went only so far, but I could make an adjustment to that.

The bells and whistles make the club work and are within the range of good taste. It seems just right to have this pair of true hybrids followed by three hollow-back irons. The custom-fitting options that include loft choices make finding the right yardage gap between the 4-hybrid and 5-iron easier.

It's a good set for the guy who needs help but insists on playing forged. NOTThe sole on the short irons might be a touch thin for this category. Four hybrids incorporate the company's "powerbow" design that shifts weight to the perimeter for more forgiveness. The cryogenic-steel face is designed to increase ball speed.

The polymer insert is to promote better feel. Of all the hybrid-iron sets, these gave the best results. The ball really pops off the clubface. The Mitsubishi Diamana graphite shaft should appeal to many players. NOTWe really dig the quartet of hybrids, but some players will shy away because of that. The tungsten weights increase MOI for stability at impact. They don't look like you have to have a high-handicap to use them. The carry was long and straight.

The super game-improvement aspects are nicely disguised. Hitting balls with some clubs is like work. This is just plain fun. Besides its standard inverted-cone and a lighter shaft, a hollow top line is a nice achievement.

The purpose is to allow weight to be moved deep to launch the ball high despite the strong lofts. How hot are these? Think of driving a Ferrari. NOTIf you're going to employ a lighter shaft, why not a lighter grip, too? An elastomer coating in the undercut cavity provides vibration damping.

Hybrids can be substituted for any iron in the set. SelectFit features, ahem, driver combinations. NOTThe jazzy crown might not suit your eye. The a3OS version has more weight in the heel and a CG toward the back, promoting a closed face and more loft. The a3 version's CG is closer to the face but in a less draw-bias position. Sits squarer than the other square drivers Most squares clang, but this one popped with a pleasant feel. And the gentle shaping actually makes the square look good.

The Aldila DVS shaft as standard is a nice surprise. NOTThere isn't a whole lot going on from a fitting aspect. The head incorporates a face-thickness section in the shape of an X, designed to improve springlike effect across a larger area. The tour versions have a square-face angle, and the standard lofts are a degree closed. Has a nice, classic look. Almost the same ball flight off the toe as in the center I could even hit it off the deck Straight top edge gives you confidence and the feeling that you have a lot of face to work with.

Plenty of pop, and if Callaway says it has spent eight years perfecting off-center-hit ball speed, it's worth investigating. NOTWhere are the high lofts for slower swings?

Why no 9-degree loft for left-handers? I like the light weight. I felt like I was always in control of the club I dig the herringbone pattern on the crown, and the dimples de-emphasize the large head. Has a unique sound I tried to mis-hit it but couldn't tell if I did--it felt and flew the same. The milled dual-rhombus face insert is unseen but felt.

NOTThe sound will leave a mark. A milled, plasma-welded face insert has multiple thicknesses to increase the coefficient of restitution COR near the USGA limit across a wider area of the face.

I like the way it sets up, and I got good distance Cool weighting system on the bottom, but classic on top. Best of both worlds Best ball flight of any driver I've hit. Solid and meaty coming off the face. A driver worthy of Mizuno's purest blade irons and the golfer who might be good enough to use them. NOT Two eight-gram weights will not move the CG significant amounts, and slower swingers are out of luck with It also features a redesigned multiple-thickness face.

The gently sloping crown leads to a rear wing where weight is concentrated to help lower the CG. Good feel with solid results Good accuracy off mis-hits.

Even drew nicely off toe hits I'm not used to the club-in-club look but just love the way it feels off the face. This is another step in the right direction and satisfies those of us who find square an excessive departure. Nike's soon-to-be launched adjustable fitting system bears watching. NOTGiving up the degree is unfortunate. The starburst internal-face geometry features four bulge-and-roll areas and is designed to improve dispersion. I didn't expect that much performance, but it's a performer.
